    Hi B. and Daniel,

I wanted your thoughts on this diet and whether it can help despite having reactive gastritis.

I’m finding there is a lot of pressure build up from lower abdomen which is very painful.

I’ve had a rough night where i was refluxing.

the ketogenic diet is a high-fat, moderate-protein and very-low-carbohydrate diet. Given your reliance on acid blockers at the moment, I would not recommend this type of diet for you at this stage.

As I had discussed with you on the live case study consultation call, given your many digestive symptoms, do not restrain yourself further by pigeon holing yourself into a popular “diet”. I encouraged you to create your own “Naveed diet” following the VPF + C guidelines, and allow your body to guide you in terms of what foods work, and what foods don’t work for your body and current situation.

Eating more animal-rich protein sources at this stage with low stomach acid will make it very difficult to digest and break down.

What I recommend is that you make a list of meals that you know you can tolerate following the VPF+C principle to ensure you’re getting in all 3 macronutrients. And then take some time to meal plan them into your week ahead so you don’t have the burden of thinking about what to eat every day or every meal.

Happy to assist in the meal planning process if it helps you. But first, make a list of meals you know you can tolerate. Write them down, snap a photo and share them here for further discussion and guidance.

    Hi. B,

I’ve noticed it with white meat, I get severe heart burn. I tried tofu today and had the same issue.

Re meal planning, you are absolutely right. I am pondering what to have on a daily basis because I react to everything.

Sure, I’ll post photos here for guidance.

good – start making a list of meals, foods, spices/seasonings/herbs you know you can tolerate and we’ll come up with a meal plan together to help ease the burden of “what to eat” every day.

I agree here with as well.

But I was also particularly interested in what your rationale was for trying out a keto diet. Was it for the reason to try & improve insulin sensitivity? Or did you have another train of thoughts there?

I thought this diet might help to reduce my symptoms of abdominal pain, bloating, feeling acidic vapors in throat and mouth. Basically, stop carbohydrates from fermenting. The smart pill test showed Malabsorption  of carbarohydrates and slow colon transit.

The problem is if I have proteins and fats, I burn alot more instanty in the chest area and heaviness in the stomach. I do find carbs soothing on the stomach. For example, quinoa porridge which is blended or a smoothie. However, I bloat a couple of hours later whether on porridge, smoothie or anything elsem

I can’t have too much fats due to the Gastritis.
