  • Eyelid inflammation (blepharitis)

I went to ophthalmologist because I can’t read without magnifying glasses recently and he said I have dry eyes and inflammation of eyelids. He said I have blocked oil glands too and gave me eye drops for moisturising and Xiidra to help open these glands and FML drops for 10 days (corticosteroids).
Anything to help with this issue with the need to use meds?

From a root cause perspective, and without knowing any other information about your history, diet, lifestyle, etc, dry eyes can have the following root cause reasons:
    • General mineral insufficiency, particularly potassium (watch risk factors for potassium deficiency here)
    • Low estrogen can cause overall dryness in the body, including the eyes, mouth, vagina, skin. Does this resonate with you?
    • Sjogrens (pronounced SHOW-grins) is an autoimmune disease that causes dryness in mucosal membranes like the eyes and mouth
    • Sensitivity to make-up/eyeliner

Believe it or not, but I’ve had 2 clients’ dry eyes improve after switching out their eye liner and mascara to a natural/cleaner mineral-based brand, and oddly enough… washing their face in sea water (which can be replicated with ‘sole’ at home if you’re not by an ocean/sea)!

just noticed I didn’t reply. Did the doctors tell you what type of blepharitis it is? Is this chronic or first time happening? Do you have any other symptoms you can share?

For rapid relief of the eyes, I’ve recommended this homeopathic eye relief formula to clients before.

have you ever measured your CRP level or other inflammatory markers to know if there is general systemic inflammation? Do you have any other symptoms aside from blepharitis? Have you ever tested your omega-3 fatty acid status? Do you consume enough healthy omega-3 fatty acids?

One symptom rarely appears alone, so if you can provide additional information, we may be able to help you get to the root cause of this chronic issue.
