Hi – we have a handout in the Resources > Tools & Guidelines section with suggested lab tests to consider for various symptoms. Click here.
For a general check-up, I’d start off with a CBC with differentials, CMP, Thyroid, Iron panel. You can also add in blood sugar testing if you feel stress/high carb diet are at play, and an inflammatory marker like CRP or homocysteine or fibrinogen – but as you said, it all depends on what you’re looking to check.
The breakdown of all of these panels are included in the handout on the last page.
Please take a look and let me know if this answers your question.

Thanks for the fast response Bernadette. I am still trying to learn how to navigate within the B Better database, so thanks for pointing me in the right direction. The link is very helpful; I would probably ask the doctor to run tests from a few different sections of this list. I will share the results for your interpretation when available.
Wishing you a lovely week ahead -
we are very aware of the limited search feature, layout of material and difficulty in finding what you need in the library and are working really hard behind the scene on a better solution for all of you. Until then, that’s what this forum is for… happy to help guide you to the info you need.

thanks a lot Bernadette. Whilst we are on the topic, I was actually going to ask if we can have a ‘save’ function in the forum? It would be really helpful to save some of the discussions for our future reference

great suggestion. I’ll pass it along to the development team .

Hey ,
I agree with Bernadette that a general check-up is a good choice when no other symptoms are present.
I would also like to add that you could choose labs based on other factors, like family history (for example – do heart problems run in your family? Then you could choose a full lipid panel as well) or if more subtle symptoms would present, you could try other other options. For example:
• If you experience cold hands & feet, feel fatigued and have problems with focusing, I for example would like to know my serum iron levels, and ferritin and do a Red Blood Cell.
• If you feel hormones might play an important role in your health you could choose a DUTCH test
• If you feel bloated, gas or other gut-related issues on GI Map or an OAT might fit you more.Just some other thoughts that could guide you in your choice!
Let us know what you have chosen!

Thanks a lot Daniel. This is a great summary and gives an idea about what to focus on.

I actually forgot to mention that I am also due for my yearly mammogram check up since I am over 40. I haven’t had a chance to explore the other options over the years like thermography along with Dutch test I think recommended. What is your view on this alternative route which is less invasive; and if so, is it available in dubai? Thanks again -
Hi – sorry for missing your follow-up question. Thanks for pinging me. No test is perfect and it really depends on what is needed. If the person doesn’t have a strong family history of breast cancer (or cancer), doesn’t have dense breasts, is fit, eats well, and lives a consciously low-tox lifestyle, then thermography can be a great tool to assess trends over time as it looks at the heat distribution in the body.
In Dubai, I can recommend Dr. Sean Penny at Bedaya Polyclinic who offers the AlfaSight 9000 Thermogram machine. You can learn more about it here. It costs ~1,900 Dhs which includes the consultation, and some people can get it reimbursed by their insurance. All depends on your coverage. Hope this helps.

As always, very helpful information and guidance. Thanks Bernadette, I will for sure look into this alternative option
