Posted by alswaidyah on March 3, 2023 at 3:12 pmHello B I am new here since 2 weeks now. I am self taught chef and fashion designer. I have decided to join this community to learn more about health. I am very healthy person and very active. But Since 2020 I have had issues with my sleeping made me unhealthy and gained 25kg since then. I started on august to heal myself with health nag. But I am still struggling with sleep. My healing journey taught me a lots and I am excited for more learning. The second reason I join B because I want to heal my 12 years old niece from celiac disease. She is also excited and ready to heal herself. But I don’t know where to start with her because I want to learn more first. I am also considering learning functional medicine after I learn from your courses.Thank you so much B

Hello ! Welcome to B Better – it’s so great having you here with us, and I love hearing about your new-found passion for functional medicine not only to help yourself, but to help your family too.❤️
I’d also love to help guide you to improve your sleep. It sounds like it was covid-related?
And you’re a chef! I learned how to cook from my mom and dad, but one day would love to join the culinary nutrition school. I’ve had my eye on that program for ages… one day, I’ll go for it! What are your favorite types of food to cook? Is Moza’s kitchen a passion project turned into a business?

Hi B yes for sure Covid
1 – Work stress was overload.
2 – I sleep 3 hours and then somehow I wake up and I can’t sleep back.
3 – I go to toilet a lots. I have insulin sensitivity but recently it become normal in my test blood. But I still go to toilet a lots.I learn how to manage my stress with supplements, breathing exercises, cold shower, epsom salts bath, yoga and meditation.
Now my sleeping is deep with magnesium and other supplements. but because I need to wake up 4-6 times at night to use the toilet sometimes I can’t sleep back.
They give me new protocol to clean my liver with tea, mushrooms and other supplements. For Moza’s kitchen it is my passion for longtime. I love to cook always. I was very passionate about health and healthy food. I love to cook healthy also because I am designer the presentation is very important to me.
In 2019 I opened food delivery but i closed after Covid. I lost my passion of cooking I didn’t know why. Here I lost track and my health issues started. I couldn’t cook for myself for 1 year. I felt I can’t see kitchen anymore. I was ordering from out and take away. Now I am enjoying cooking again I really feel great after I start healing my body.

Hey ,
Welcome to B Better! My name is Daniel and I help Bernadette on the platform. I hope you like what you see! If you ever have questions about health or where to find content, let us know! There is quite a bit already.
There can be different reasons why you wake up in the night. You mentioned you had your insulin measured. I was curious about your lab values. Perhaps we could help you shed a different light on them through the functional medicine lens.

hello Daniel,
Thank you for your comment. I would love to really understand more about my sleeping issue. I did 2 different blood test to check about the insulin resistance. It was normal in both test but the symptoms are still same like going to toilet. How can you help me? Do you have private consultations?

Hey ,
Sure I do! But this platform has already so many insights to give. I would advise you to make a general post. A lot of people share here their lab results and Bernadette and I share our experience with other clients here. We will help you with tips and guide you to the right information on the platform when it is available.
I know some people like to stay anonymous when sharing information. Here is a video that explains how to stay anonymous if this is something you are concerned about.
The great thing about this platform is that it can help you to understand the basics of your sleep problem. For example, we have even a video here that explains how to interpret insulin on your lab results. Depending on who interpreted your values it might be helpful to look again at your lab values. Through the functional medicine lens, insulin is differently interpreted than through the conventional lens. In general, we derive different conclusions than traditional medicine from all kinds of lab values.
Perhaps you can tell us a little more about when your sleep problems started and if you experience emotional stress in your life. What did you try already to get some relief? What worked and what didn’t? Sometimes sleep problems can occur with other medication use. Are you currently on any medications? And what does your intuition tell you about your sleep problem?
Other symptoms you experience can also be a great guide. You should also think about stuff you probably wouldn’t complain about to a doctor. For example, are you stiff in the morning? Do you experience muscle cramps? Do you feel low on energy? Do you experience heartburn? Are you experiencing hot flashes? All details matter!

there’s a hormone in the brain called ADH which regulates our circadian rhythm and also our production of urine. At night it’s supposed to slow down. As you know, so many people lost their sense of smell and taste as a result of the virus travelling across the olfactory system into the brain. If frequent urination was not an issue for you before covid, then I would recommend micro-current neurofeedback to help “reset” the brain. In fact, Dr. Lilya Chub who works at Hope Health and Healing experienced insomnia after covid, and was able to fix her sleep after 3 sessions of MCN. Definitely worth a consultation with her to see if it would help sort out your sleep too! Nothing more important than sleep so, I hope this helps.
And if it was always an issue (even before covid), then I would suspect mold toxicity. Frequent urination at night is a common symptom of mold. Let me know.

hello B
Yes I have this before covid. Actually I didn’t not got Covid but I meant stress since the pandemic. I drink a lots of water between 3-4 liter daily for more than 15 years now. And I thought it’s normal because I am drinking more water. I found out I had insulin and thyroid since 2017. My sleeping issues started that time. I had a lot of stress from work and relationships 2018. I think all together with pandemic years. -
aha! Ok, so it’s starting to sound like the Blood Sugar Regulation and Adrenal Balance courses will be the most helpful starting points for you, since both of these affect thyroid function.
If you have any blood tests you can share, I’d encourage you to start a new post in the “Ask Your Questions” space so I can send you to specific videos depending on the stage of insulin resistance (if you don’t have the time to watch the entire course). I share different solutions for different stages of insulin resistance, but I would encourage you to carve out 2-3 hours to watch the entire course. It will help give you a better idea about diet, the organs and hormones involved, and how to support them in each stage of dysfunction.
And sometimes, we can have the perfect diet, but become diabetic from stress alone! So that’s where watching the adrenal course can help if you suspect it’s more stress-related. I share in that course, healing modalities and solutions for supporting the adrenal glands through food therapy and supplements as well, as well as tests to consider to know what type of support you need (i.e. more boosting, more calming, glandulars, etc).
