• Immunoglobulins

    Hi B and Daniel,

I was going through my supplements today and saw that I still had a bottle of Mega IgG 2000

So, I started to dive into Immunoglobulins etc. and refresh my knowledge.

I know that they support a healthy gut function by strengthening the gut barrier function, reducing inflammation and removing pathogens. And at the same time they act as a binder and help remove the toxins out. Best used for leaky gut or as immune support etc.

My 1st question: I saw that the formulation of Mega IgG 2000 that I have, still contains Transferrin; the new formulation comes without. What would the transferrin do?

My 2nd question: Mega IgG 2000 vs SBI Protect. Other than the addition of IgM and IgA in Mega IgG 2000, what is the difference of these two products and when would you decide to use one or the other?

    I know, very technical today

    Hi love your technical questions…

So transferrin plays an important role in iron transport and it may also have an immunomodulatory effect. As you may already know, immunoglobulins support the immune system and the gut which could be one of the reasons why it was added. Another possibility could be that since transferrin binds to iron, it could limit the availability of iron to potential pathogens.

But I’m not too sure of the exact reason… it’s probably best to reach out to the company directly and ask about its specific role in the previous formulation and why they decided to remove it. Please report back if you do!

As for your second question, the main difference between the two is that SBI protect is derived from dairy, whereas MegaIgG is dairy-free.

    Hope that helps!

    thank you
I could swear on their website (SBI protect) it said dairy free. I will check again ☺️

On one hand, SBI Protect has Bovine ingredient which I thought means animal derived, but then at the same time, the website mentions it’s dairy free.

    B. What does bovine mean.

I’m also looking for something which addresses IgA, and igM. I am taking moss select IgG, but it doesn’t contain the former two immunglobins as much as IgG.

IgG2000 isn’t available here due to UK regulations.

strange… they must have reformulated… it used to be made from dairy.

I guess now the added advantage of MegaIgG is the accessibility. Orthomolecular Products are not on Fullscript and only available through practitioners.
