    Hi ,

Welcome to the platform. I hope you will enjoy it here! My name is Daniel and I help Bernadette on the forum.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I saw your reply to Bernadette’s question and I’m curious now: how did your first trimester go?

glad to hear it. Ya, the first trimester can be really rough. Did you have bad morning sickness (even though in reality it can be all-day sickness or just evening sickness…)?

We have another member who is also pregnant in our community if you’d like to connect with each other. We now have direct messaging and real-time chat features available.

I look forward to being able to support you both during your pregnancy. ❤️

Hello to you both, thank you for such a warm welcome from you both here honestly. 1st trimester was a bit rough for me. I was nauseous but not throwing up. Felt like it, but didn’t. All day thing. Low on energy and slept a great deal. Emotionally, it was rough as well as far as my mood. I did stop exercising like I normally used to. I will start back up now. The weirdest thing I had and still have is a lot of saliva/mucus, sorry tmi, but yes it’s to the point where I have to carry a spit bottle (I know gross) but not much choice. It’s worse if I let myself get hungry. Overall, now I am in a better place and feeling a bit like my old self so I’m happy/grateful for that. Thank you both for asking!

have you tried eliminating dairy to see if it helps reduce the mucus?

oh I haven’t done dairy in years. So honestly idk why all this saliva/mucus. I know that I like/ crave carbs, so not sure if that part of the issue.

now that you’re starting to feel better, would you be interested in trying an elimination diet followed by a re-introduction to see if it’s a food sensitivity that is creating this symptom? (I linked the instructions on how to do this) The typical offenders are usually gluten, dairy, yeast, corn, peas, certain nuts (almonds, cashews, peanuts). You can try to remove one at a time for a month and if you experience symptom-relief, then re-introduce it. Or you can remove all of them at once (if that’s your style), and if there’s symptom-relief, re-introduce each one, one at a time to see if your symptoms come back and determine the offending food/foods.

Also, did you add anything new to your supplements/diet/lifestyle, or do anything different when these symptoms appeared?

Okay, I will try the eliminating diet. I was thinking I will have to ride it out, since not much solution online. My research lead me to a condition name ptyalism. Since I believe a lot of things are connected so I will try eliminating diet.

Well, let’s just say I have been eating food that I normally wouldn’t touch like pizza. Eating out and who knows what oils, etc they are using. I’m doing better now as trying to make what I crave at home, but not as great as I would like. Little by little.

I was curious! How are things now these days? Did you try the elimination diet? Did it bring you some relief?

I hope you are doing better!

Hello Daniel, thank you for checking up/following up with me. I did not fully eliminate everything (still did a bit of carbs), but stuck to the rest as this was part of lifestyle prior. It did subside in the 2nd trimester, but as I am approaching my 3rd trimester it is picking back up. What I have figured out is, it’s some sort of hunger cue. If I don’t eat enough or let myself past my eating time, I get the mucus/spitting. It definitely has subsided from before, but still a bit annoyingly around.

Wishing you a happy and prosperous New year!
