How do you wrap or keep slices of lemon, ginger..etc in the fridge? I use plastic and I know I shouldn’t. I also use ziplocks for Apple as a snack for example or my nuts. For bigger items I have the glass containers. Just these I’m not sure. Any suggestions for both pls? Fridge and outside? Thanks

     – I have small stainless steel and glass containers with lids for storing small items in the fridge or counter. If you search for “stainless steel sauce bowls with lid” or “glass small sauce bowls with lid” on Amazon, you’ll find a bunch of different products. These are great for smaller items like lemons, ginger, etc.

The old fashion way is to wrap your food in paper towel and then a kitchen towel. That’s how I wrap my herbs and lettuce actually. Keeps them fresh longer.

I’ve never tried beeswax cotton wraps but have always been curious about these: https://organicfoodsandcafe.com/product/organic-larder-beeswax-wraps

I also have a few silicone reusable bags to minimize the amount of ziplock plastic we use. They can be used in the fridge and freezer.

    Hope this helps.

thank you so much – helpful yes.

What are your thoughts tho on ziplocks to freeze things? Still harmful?

my freezer is still something I need to improve on because I still rely a lot on ziplock bags for freezing things. But one way to make it less harmful is to ensure whatever you’re putting in the bag isn’t hot. You can also wrap whatever food item you want to freeze in aluminum foil. It’s going into the freezer so no worries of aluminum leaching into the food.

I do have silicone bags but not enough for everything we freeze. I do also use glass jars for some items and you can also use stainless steel containers with rubber lids in the freezer too.
