Hey ,
Slippery elm is not known to have serious side effects (if you aren’t allergic to it). Because it coats the digestive tract, it may slow down the absorption of other drugs or herbs. Marshmallow root, in some cases, can cause stomach upset. Taking it with water reduces the chance on that, but it still could happen. DGL has the potential to increase blood pressure, so this you might want to be aware of.
But with supplements (just like with food or medications) there are always persons who react differently. So listening to your body is just as important!

I think DGL is safe and doesn’t affect BP as it’s Deglycyrrhizinated.

You are right! For some reason I was thinking about licorice while I was writing my reply!

Thank you for the confirmation D.
Regarding RBC selenium, Regenerus Labs do it but it’s part of a full nutritional panel. Unfortunately, it costs £381.
Functional DX do selenium serum only which is in the Thyroid panel. It’s not available in any of their other test labs.

With the possibility of an altered absorption (because of dysbiosis/SIBO) I would like to rule out a dietary insufficiency.
Do you know how much selenium is in your diet? If you are using a multivitamin for example, you can know how much selenium is minimally in your diet. If you eat a few brazil nuts on a daily basis you can be sure you have sufficient dietary selenium
If you added the multivitamin/brazil nuts recently I wouldn’t go for an RBC test unless you have been doing that for 3 months. It takes 3 months to replace all red blood cells in your body. An RBC value is often more reflective of what nutrients you had in the past 3 months.

I’m not taking any multivitamins or selenium based diet.
I was eating Brazilian nuts just before Christmas as they were abundant in the supermarkets due to Christmas. I realised afterwards, they contain histamine which I have so have stopped eating them.
I really need to go some sort of multivitamin supplement as I am really weak.
Once the functional blood test results are out of the way, I might need your guidance again.
I’ve sent an email to the support team on your side with the blood tests to be done with functional dx. Unfortunately, I can’t just approach the company directly and have to go through the practioner.
