    Hey ,

There are several reasons why histamine can be elevated. The histamine can be produced by your body as a reaction from your immune system to antigens. Foods can be high in histamine and certain bacteria can produce histamine.

Since food can contribute to histamine it would be good to check if you were having by accident some high histamine foods before the test, so you can rule out that option. There is a handout here in the B Better library that can help you do that.

    What is LPS?
LPS is short for lipopolysaccharide. When certain bacteria (gram-negative bacteria) in your microbiome die, they break down. LPS are found in the outer cell membrane of these bacteria. You can compare them with ‘bodyparts’ of dead bacteria.

When LPS are elevated in the blood, this means they passed through damaged parts of the gut lining (leaky gut as you called it).

    New test vs old test
The good change on the new test is that your DAO enzymes went up, Are you using supplements containing DAO? If not, your body’s own production went up. Adding in B vitamins (B6 in particular) can have contributed to this. More DAO production can also be an indication that the mucosal integrity has been improved.

Also, your immune system seems to respond better. These changes are important to note as well.

    What can you do?
    • Remove histamine foods/foods that liberate histamine (see the mentioned handout) and food sensitivities. Quercetin supplements can help inhibit histamine from the immune system and help the gut lining (2x 500 mg daily is what I advise my clients often to start with).
    • Help repair the gut lining. Bone broth,  but also collagen which we recently talked about can help repair the gut lining.
    • Omega 3’s (2-4 grams) and Extra Virgin Olive Oil high in polyphenols can help lower LPS and reduce inflammation.
    • Vitamin C and copper are just like vitamin B6 cofactors for the production of the DAO enzyme. Getting these in can help you as well.
    • Caprylic acid found in coconut oil and MCT oil can be helpful with yeast. There are more options here of course, but I would advise a gentle approach here since antimicrobials can potentially increase LPS.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi ,

Thank you for your detailed response as always.

I have been eating avocado, walnuts, brazil nuts, egg plant, prawns, fish, tofu, mushrooms, chicken and eggs. Semi boiled eggs, on a daily’s basis.

I noticed after googling you can also histamine liberator foods such as eggs.

Meat should be bought fresh and not from the chilled section. I order the white meat as fresh as possible.

I haven’t been taking any DAO. I thought I needed it and started looking on Amrita nutrition yesterday, but histamine block contained pork. Maybe, I don’t  need DAO then?

I have been taking B complex for the past three months by this company.

    https://www.metabolics.com/b-complex-liquid.html

I use coconut oil in my cooking.

I also take Omega 3 liquid by Bare Biology which I have mentioned in one of previous posts.

I don’t take copper but do take vitamin c as Magnesium Ascorbate by Biocare. I take 1/3 tsp of the powder in a little water. Functional dx blood test results will show any deficiency in these and other minerals and vitamins once I received the test kits and blood withdrawal is done.

Quercetin  – is this in capsule form? I don’t think I can add another supplement as I’ve just ordered Biotics Research HCL ease. I want to, but my stomach is already struggling at the moment.

Can collagen peptide powder cause histamine intolerance in the sense that if the powder is stored for a long time and it builds up histamine.

Can Glutathione help with regulating histamine intolerance?

Could the liver need a detox?

Hi and , I’m in touch with
actiondry.co.uk to contact me for mould inspection.

Could I have an infection? H2 Blocker, femotidine isn’t helping. Today, I gave a blood withdrawal for the blood panels from functional DX and I’m also meeting my Gastroenterologist following my stomach emptying test on 18th January. I am burning up inside. I’ve been taking high dosage of the femotidine but no difference.

    ,

I’m so sorry to hear about the burning feelings you are suffering with. I do believe the opinion of your gastroenterologist is important to find out if the medication isn’t working. At the moment, what kind of dosages of femotidine are you taking?

Obviously foods influence the burning sensation as well, but right now, did anything change? For example is the burning sensation at the same place? Do you feel the burning sensation continuously? If the pain changed, in what kind of time frame did it change?

Burning sensation is continuous post food. It could be the very tiny amount of almond butter which is very sensitive to my system due to the histamine intolerance. I didn’t realise almonds are high in histamine.

My abdomen bloats and is hard as well when gastritis flairs up. The burning sensation happens within 1/2 and stays. When I try to calm it, with slippery elm, DGL or marshamllow, it worsens.

When I meet my Gastroenterologist today, I’ll ask to do a gastrin blood test of he can. I might be producing too much acid.

sorry to hear you’re still in so much pain. Did you end up creating that meal plan so we can help guide you in terms of diet? And did you have your neo emotional release session yet? Glad you’re getting mold checked out. Hope they’re proper mold inspectors and not just going to check AC ducts and do a visual inspection. Mycotoxins are invisible and odorless. Ask if they know about the ERMI test in the US to check mycotoxins.

     hi.

I haven’t uploaded the foods yet.

My first NEO session with Ashley was on February 2nd, but I’ve had to reschedule it to 8th February as I have a hospital appointment for a full blood panel including blood gastrin level and some other specific markers related to my gut which I’m not hundred percent sure about. My GI consultant requested it when I met him yesterday. He’s also asked my GP to prescribe these medicines specific to histamine. Please see below. I am concerned about montelukast. When I google this, there is talks of this medicine being used by asthmatic patients. I also have to take cetirizine. Taking both will bring the histamine down apparently. Is there an alternative route rather than taking these medicines?

“I suspect that is high histamine levels are contributing to some of his symptoms after he eats. In addition to the famotidine I would like to take cetirizine half an hour before every meal and also add in 10 mg of montelukast in the evenings I would be grateful if you could prescribe all of these for him. I will see him back in clinic with the above results to hand and feedback thereafter.”

I will check whether they are familiar with ERMI test.

What should I do about the two medicines? Are there alternatives?

DAO enzymes can help bring down histamine levels. I know that you do not want to consume pork but I have had Muslim clients consider it when it becomes their only option for their health. Perhaps discuss it with a sheikh?

it works differently than Histamine Block but they are complementary. HistaminX helps modulate histamine levels through different mechanisms of action, while Histamine Block (the DAO enzyme) directly degrades histamine.

Quercetin for example in HistaminX is a natural anti-histamine that calms the immune system to reduce or prevent histamine release.

Stinging nettle also has ‘antihistamine’ action because it makes histamine receptors less sensitive. Because of this mode of action, I tend to use stinging nettle as a synergistic, additive pairing with an antihistamine like quercetin (vs. an agent on its own).

HistaminX has both of these in the formula, among others.

    Hey ,

I think like Bernadette is mentioning, that adding DAO enzymes would be worth a try. Vitamin C is also essential for the production of DAO enzymes. As mentioned above, you already produce more enzymes than on your previous Advanced Intestinal Barrier assessment. Your OAT however shows low vitamin C status.

Histamine Block does contain a little bit of vitamin C, but that might not be enough. Having more vitamin C might help the body optimize for DAO enzyme production as well.

Curcumin can help prevent mast cell activation (according to this article here). There is some evidence that compounds in ginger are just as effective as anti-histamine. You could try to add ginger or ginger tea as well if you can tolerate it.

I came across this vegeterian of DAO today. Would like your thoughts.

    NATURDAO – 1.000.000 HDU – Vegetable DAO – DAO Deficiency – Histamine Intolerance – Diamine Oxidase https://amzn.eu/d/eg8QMUF

I take the following vitamin c for a few months on and off. 1/3 to 1/2 tsp. Is this OK?

    https://www.biocare.co.uk/vitamin-c-powder

Is curcumin tumeric? I can’t tolerate tumeric. I’ll retry ginger as tea. I use to add julienne sliced ginger to my porridge.

Oh, I’m producing more enzymes. This is good news. Which marker(s) is this?

Tomorrow, I’ll be having a blood withdrawal for blood gastrin check and full panel check. Coincidentally, I’ve ended up with two blood withdrawals this week.

For the gastrin check I’ve had to come off femotidine for three days. To compensate, I’ve been taking slippery elm, DGL and Marshmallow Root Powder. I’ve been OK. I’m thinking of carrying on to provide a stool test for h. Pylori. The problem is  I’m constipated and can’t go for up to 5 days. I try the I love u massage.and drink plenty of water.

The other reason why I want to carry on is to repeat the Heidelberg test as I’ve been in touch with the Dr. in the US from heidelbergtest.com. The previous heidelberg test is from 2019.

curcumin is an ingredient in tumeric often extracted as a supplement. But since it is from tumeric, fresh ginger might be a better choice for now!

    Hey ,

Personally I have no experience with NATURDAO. But give it a try and see if you feel better with it!

With the use of vitamin C, start low and slow as well. Vitamin C or ascorbic acid as it is called is still acidic in nature.

You probably did, but just in case you didn’t, ask your doctor on how to come of famotidine. To come off famotidine is usually done by gradually reducing the dosage a period so that the stomach lining can adjust to the new acidity in the stomach.

To reach the conclusion your own DAO production went up, I just compared your recent test with your previous test. You can see that you are producing more enzymes right now.

I can’t tell why your histamine was elevated just from the test, but besides other causes like SIBO, there might be elevations from food as well. If you could trace back what you had eaten and would conclude you have had histamine rich foods, this could lead to a better interpretation of the results.
