I’m glad it was helpful. Supplementing with Vitamin C isn’t much a concern since it’s water soluble so your body will excrete what it doesn’t need.
Remember the food options and iron skillet that I discussed in the video. They can all be helpful measures as well.
Something new that I’ve started learning about are cell salts. Ferrum Phosphoricum is a homeopathic cell salt that supposedly helps with iron absorption. I’ve personally used it for a month, and it made a difference. Something to consider as well…

Hi
and
,I just retested my Iron levels sine I’ve been taking iron supplements in the last 4-5 months.
So the ferritin level increased but the iron in blood did not increase, in fact is lower…
I’m still waiting for my CBC to see the latest hemoglobin levels..The doc just emailed me and I didn’t have a chance to discuss what this means…
Should I really just go for an infusion to boost levels up? It doesn’t seem that in 5-6 months I’m making enough progress with supplements.
Still I’m trying to figure out why I deplete over time. Another general GP asked me to look into celiac disease… but I don’t really have symptoms I don’t think but was told that it can happen unnoticed and could be a reason why I don’t absorb iron properly?
Heavy period is still a concern but I just can’t imagine that can keep me so low even with supplements. However, next perhaps I’ll consider removing my copper coil.
Also, my gyne said I have a thickening of the uterus (she mentioned myohyperplasia) which causes heavy bleeding and that is caused by lower progesterone levels so she prescribed progesterone for 3 months to take cyclically to reverse tgat condition. There maybe also some interlinks..My main goal is however I believe would be to increase my iron to a healthier level.
Thank you for any suggestions or further advices on this.

Hello , it’s actually good to see that your ferritin has increased despite the fact that you’re still having heavy periods. And yes, heavy periods can cause low iron/ferritin despite iron supplementation so I wouldn’t be concerned about malabsorption at this stage. So I’m glad to hear that you’re considering removing your copper IUD and supplementing with progesterone. Please double check to make sure it’s bio-identical progesterone from a compounding pharmacy.
Also keep in mind that iron, in general, is also much harder and takes longer to replenish.
I trust a lot will change for you in that regard once you address the heavy blood loss each month.
Please do keep us posted!

Thank you Bernadette, ok so I guess is a progress. I’ll keep taking iron then and will probably try the Thorne one now as I need to stock up and the docs keep giving me some other brands.
So when ferritin increases it means that I’m replenishing my stores? and iron in blood is more like a current indication and would change based on things like I just had my period or I took the supplement etc?
The progesterone is from a compounding pharmacy, made for me. I’m not sure if bio-compatible but I was told is natural progesterone made for me.
I have a question here too. I got 100mg to take daily btw day10-26 of my cycle. But I recently watched the “Estrogene out of control” session and I just learned we naturally produce about 40mg a day.. so isn’t that way too much I was given? I have tender breasts now after taking it for 4 days… no other side effects so far.Thank you for all the useful information as always. So happy that there is a community where I can discuss these questions.
