Blood Test Results Arranged By The Rheumatologist
Posted by naslam1603 on May 23, 2023 at 10:20 pmHi B. and Daniel,
Please find attached blood test results arranged by the rheumatologist on May 12th. Would you mind taking a look. The reason for visiting the consultant was due to pain in my finger joints when waking up in the morning.
What stands out for me from the blood test results are:
- Uric Acid has dropped compared to Functional DX
- ESR is high. However, HIGH SENSITIVITY CRP is fine. Should I still be concerned about ESR?
- Random Blood Glucose reading was very low
- Are my UREA AND ELECTROLYTES (COMPLEX), SERUM readings look ok to you? Potassium, for example.
- I’m still anaemic, but compared to previous blood test results, slight improvement.
6. Vitamin D has improved significantly.
I’ve attached previous blood results as well.
The X-rays reports are fine. See below.
I’ve had Ultrasound scans of the hands too. Awaiting results.
I’ll be having a bone density scan in about two weeks time. Will keep you posted.

I’m glad to see the improvements in blood chemistry. This is probably due to the fact that you’ve been supporting the gut lining for a while now, and therefore improving overall nutrient absorption. I would encourage you to speak to your doctor about starting a weaning protocol to very slowly start getting you off of your acid suppressing meds if you’ve addressed the low-positive H Pylori with Matula tea. Did you ever pursue the tea or other type of anti-H Pylori support?
The low protein absorption from suppressing stomach acid and poor digestion will lead to poor synthesis of serotonin which will affect gastro motility, pain perception, impulse control, etc. This remains a priority for you.
It’s also apparent to me that a parasite cleanse is still warranted based on the higher Eosinophil count (I like to see it <1%), as well as a need for liver support due to the liver enzymes nearing 30 U/L. Did you end up taking the D-limonene to help with biliary tract decongestion?
Are you still constipated? If so, have you seen our newly released Constipation Relief program? Give it a try! Even if you have to use rapid relief measures (which I share in the program) to achieve a daily bowel movement, this remains a priority.
In terms of the pain you are experiencing in your hands in the morning, I'm glad to see there's no pathology. As I had mentioned in a previous thread, feeling pain in the joints in the mornings usually has to do with a low cortisol awakening response and immune complex build-up in joints from food sensitivities. Cortisol is our natural anti-inflammatory hormone in the body. This is why doctors prescribe "cortisone" shots for sore joints, but they only offer temporary relief (and often worsen the situation over time by further suppressing endogenous cortisol production).
I know you like to pursue testing, so if there was 1 test I would recommend next, it would be a DUTCH Plus to see your cortisol production and rhythm throughout the day. Based on those results, you can know how to support your adrenal function. However, given the fact that you've been struggling with chronic symptoms for years, I can confidently assume that your CAR is low in the morning, as is your cortisol level throughout the day. In these types of situations, I often skip testing and recommend that my clients take an Adrenal glandular like Biotics Cytozyme-AD (2 upon rising and 2 mid-morning) for 2-3 months to help "give their adrenals a vacation" so to speak while working to address root causes.

Hey ,
To clarify some of your other questions: CRP and ESR can both elevate when inflammation is at play. CRP acts much quicker, while ESR is slower in rising and dropping. This could indicate that your ESR is falling and this is a good sign.
Interestingly enough (and what might be new) is the presents of gastric parietal cell antibodies which were tested in February. Did your doctor mention this? These antibodies mean there might be an autoimmune component to your gastritis.
Usually with auto-immune issues present, I advise avoiding gluten-containing products and milk products, avoiding processed foods, avoiding stress, and focusing on sleep and gut healing. Many things you are probably already doing. But with auto-immune problems at play, the healing time usually takes longer and problems can sometimes ‘flare’ up.
It might not change much about your approach right now, but it does explain why your gastritis sometimes gets worse even when you are doing the right stuff

Hi B. and Daniel,
Apologies for the delayed response.
Weaning off Famotidine (H2 Blocker)
Unfortunately, apart from cold turkey, the doctors here don’t seem to have a weaning off protocol for me to follow. I’ve had this discussion with multiple primary practitioners in my surgery since 2019 and the feedback is the same.To be honest, I don’t think I can stop famotidine at the moment. I had to stop famotidine for 12 days for the Bravo test on 9th May. 7 days prior to the capsule attached to my food pipe, but I could have natural remedies. However, after the capsule was attached, I couldn’t have any remedies. It was extremely difficult. Also, see attached histology report from 9th May Bravo test. I’ve yet to find out whether I do reflux which is the purpose of this test. I’ll know on June 5th from the data recorded.
[9.5.23 Histology Report During Bravo procedure.pdf]
I’ve noticed type of gastritis varies depending on where in the stomach biopsies are taken. I’ve had so many biopsies and the type of gastritis varies.[Naveed Aslam 31.5.22 Histology Report Following Pylorus Dialation and Botox Injection.pdf][Naveed Aslam 8.11.22 Histology Report Following Pylorus Dialation and Botox Injection.pdf][Naveed Aslam 22.2.23 Endoscopy & Colonoscopy inc. Histology Report By Dr. R. Haidry.pdf]
On June 5th, I have a follow up appointment with the Gastroenterologist to discuss my video capsule endoscopy as well. The reason for having the video capsule endoscopy was to check whether I might be bleeding from the small intestine as the colonoscopy was normal. The Occult FIT marker in the last GI MAP showed a high figure.
[Naveed Aslam 13.3.23 GI MAP.pdf]H. Pylori
I’m not taking the matula tea as customer services told me the number is already below the maximum range and the tea will not reduce it further from the reading I have. I was about to order it and sent my readings.Below are his responses.
Dear Naveed
Any reading below 1.0e3 is considered by GI Map test to be H. Pylori free , or less than for example 2.4e2 or 8.9e2 ( again not highlighted in red ) with no virulence factors . Taking the course of tea may marginally decrease the 0e2 reading . There is no 0.0e2 on the GI MAP test . There may be another factor on your GI Map test reading that may be causing the symptoms .As the reading is below 1.0e3 , the guarantee falls away .
Kind regards
Matula Tea SupportInstead, I am taking mastic gum, zinc l carnosine, magnesium ascorbate. Zinc L carnosine, I can’t tolerate on it’s own and have to take it with food.
I couldn’t tolerate gastromend on it’s own. I think it’s due to the ascorbic acid and or zinc l carnosine.
I’ve tried cabbage juice (8oz) but due to the gastroperisis, I am full after having the juice and then find myself after eating, I’m extremely full. Also, the juice burns my stomach.
Could I add anything else to ensure H. PYLORI is below detectable limited.
With gastritis and H. Pylori still present, I don’t know how to acidify the stomach.
Liver Enzyme
The liver enzyme marker nearing 30 u/L. What does this mean? Is this in the current blood test?D-limonene,
I am taking it with my evening meal, but only 250mg. I noticed, it says not to take it if having gastritis. I haven’t increased it yet. What should I do?DUTCH PLUS Test
I’ll repeat it. I recall it was quite involved which was the reason not doing it. Is this more comprehensive compared to the DUTCH complete test. How much is it through Nordics Lab in £?
I think he mentioned in passing that I have autoimmune issues. I know this is serious, but he didn’t seemed to think so. To be honest, I’m not sure what this means. Does it mean, the cells which produce acid are damaged.Yes, I am avoiding dairy and gluten, processed foods. I’m having a flair up right now. It also happens when my stomach is empty for long.
I have avoided so many foods due to the histamine issue. Also, I can only have eat two meals a day.
Constipation
Yes, I am but at the same time. Food intake is poor, meaning not much to come out No, I haven’t seen the constipation module. Will do. -
Hey ,
H2 Blocker
When weaning off H2 blockers, you would like to do this slowly. The stomach lining needs to get used to acid production again. Stopping cold turkey can cause reactions because the stomach lining needs to adjust to the acid production again. How to reduce stomach acid medication when the time is right:
If my memory served correctly, you were on a pretty low dosage, but I’m not quite sure. Still, everybody is unique and can react differently. I recommend my clients (in consultant with their doctor by the way!) to take half a dosage for 2-3 weeks. Then reduce the dosage again by taking a quarter dosage for 2-3 weeks. And then taking this dosage every other day for 2-3 weeks again, but as I started with every person is different. For some people rebuilding the stomach lining can take 3-6 months and decreasing medication should go much slower. If you decide to wean off, I would recommend the slower approach.Autoimmune
Like earlier discussed, one of the tests showed autoimmune antibodies. As I discussed above, I recommend with my clients always go gluten- and dairy-free, supporting the immune system with the proper nutrients, reducing stress, etc. A lot of these recommendations you are following I believe, so those recommendations don’t really change. But the expectations on how things develop do change. The healing process takes longer and it is more usual to see symptoms flaring up. Having vitamin D levels higher can reduce the flares, but they still can occur.
DUTCH Test
Bernadette already explained the benefits of having a proper cortisol spike in the morning. I would like to add to that, that having an appropriate Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR) can help fight autoimmune problems since a good CAR helps break down improper working T cells in the thymus. When health problems are worse in the morning, this can indicate that the CAR isn’t optimal since cortisol is anti-inflammatory.If you would like to learn more about the CAR I recommend you watch this movie here. The DUTCH Plus you can find here and I believe it’s 325 pounds right now.
Liver test
Are you talking about the aspartate transferase here? I wouldn’t worry too much about that if this is the case. The liver might have been a little busier than usual with these values, but this happens. Your value of 30 still looks great.D-limonene
Sometimes biliary congestion can lead to pain in the centre abdomen or just under the ribs on your right-hand side. I believe you mentioned these types of symptoms right? If these symptoms are gone, this is a good indication that bile flow has improved. Are you still experiencing sudden pains in this area? -
Hi Daniel, just quick response that I’ll come back to you shortly.
