Follow up appointment following SIBO Test
Hi B. and Daniel,
I met my gastroenterologist today following the SIBO test. He doesn’t accept the negative Hydrogen Methane result as it doesn’t correlate with my symptomscondition. That is bloating, abdominal pain and slow gut motility. I’ve attached both the results and clinic letter. Can SIBO results be incorrect?
He would like me to start the antibiotics followed by the low fodmap diet.
Prucalopride – I only take 2mg once daily at night. I mentioned to Dr. Haidry that I switched taking it from the morning dose with breakfast to last thing at night. I think he thought that I take it in the morning and last thing at night. I will correct him.
Iberogast – I have mentioned to him in the past that it isn’t available in the UK and I asked a friend of mine to purchase it for me from Poland when he returns to the UK. I’ve tried it and it’s just too strong.
Nutritional Supplements – Again in the past, I mentioned to him that my stomach burnt with Betaine HCl & Pepsin – 90 Capsules – BioCare | Amrita Nutrition
Bio.Revive Kinetic 90 Capsule – Invivo Healthcare – He recommended taking this as well as the Prucalopride.
Proven Relief from Bloating | Atrantil – He recommended this too. Have you come across it?
I walked in optimistic with negative SIBO and walked out deflated.

Hi – the SIBO result is password protected. Nevertheless, I read Dr. Haidry’s report. It seems that he’s assuming a false negative given the flat line lactulose result from slow gastric motility. So I guess what he’s saying is that the results didn’t show the correct results in the given timeframe because of slow motility.
Have you ever taken Rifaximin in the past? If you’re hesitant taking an antibiotic, Biocidin Botanicals is a good broad spectrum anti-microbial that you can discuss with your doctor as an alternative if he’s open to it. It needs to be taken longer than the antibiotic (minimum 30 days up to 90 days) but has less side effects than the medication.
Are you also working with this doctor to wean off your acid suppressing med? This still needs to be a priority to prevent SIBO from developing or recurring.
Yes, I have experience with Atrantil – it’s a good replacement for Iberogast.

Hi B. Sorry, the clinic password protected the PDF file. It’s my DOB – 16031969. I haven’t taken Rifaximin before. I can ask him about the biocidin. Yes, he has helped me try to come off the femotdine, but I get both reflux and gastric pain.
Dr. Haidry mentioned the flat line could be due to the lactulose not even taking effect during the time of the complete test due to slow transit time.
