• UTI/Kidney Stones

    Hi,

I have never had a history of UTI’s but I have been chronic with one off and on for the past few years. I have done both the natural protocol and antibiotic (not my first choice) I took your advice and have been trying to find the root of the problem. But so far no luck.

I do have a history of kidney stones. It has been 15 years since my last one. I never pass them, they are to large. I have them broken up. I currently have a stone. That is starting to cause me some pain. In the past they were uric acid stones. I recently had labs and my Uric levels were great. I was reading your KS protocols. I have never heard of Chanca piedra. Is it effective in dissolving stones? And do you have a brand and a dose you would recommend? I have an apt with a Uroligist to check there is no blockage. But I am not interested in going on an antibiotic long term for the UTI I am sure that will be there band aid for the problem.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    thank you,

    Jill Dean

    Hey ,

    Kidney Stones:
You can try Chanca Piedra and see if it works. There aren’t big studies done on Chanca Piedra and kidney stones, but there were several smaller studies that showed a reduction in the size and number of kidney stones.

In this study, for example, researchers used 1 cup of 4.5 grams of powdered Chanca Piedra daily (12 weeks long) to observe a reduction in kidney stone size and numbers.

    UTIs:
You mentioned you tried to find upstream causes. Can you help us understand what you tried exactly? Besides measuring BUN, creatinine and other markers you shared with us in the past (right here), did you for example had your white blood cells measured? Or other markers related to your immune system (like for example vitamin D levels)? A strong immune system is key to fight off infections.

The protocol you’ve used in the past might help you bring relief. Especially if the bacteria causing the UTI is E. Coli. Unfortunately, it doesn’t address upstream causes. Although most of the time E. Coli can cause UTIs, keep in mind there are other bacteria that can cause and contribute to UTIs as well.

Hi – do you mind sharing your age please? Something else to also keep in mind is estrogen, as that can affect the vaginal pH. As women age and estrogen levels decline, changes in the vaginal pH and microbiota can occur. These changes can potentially lead to an increased risk of bacterial overgrowth and vaginal infections that can potentially contribute to an increased risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs).

So checking your hormone levels is something else to consider. If low, the use of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (bHRT) and estrogen creams applied locally, like estriol, is a common medical approach to address these issues, particularly in postmenopausal women. Estrogen creams can help restore the vaginal pH and improve the overall  health of the vaginal tissues.

Hope this helps offer another direction to look into. I will be sure to update my UTI protocol to include this point as well.

    Hi,
Want to share that my mom and a female cousin had kidney stones and both tried Chanca Peidra and the both passed the stones.
They were experiencing severe pain. Especially my mom in and out of the hospital.
Happy to say she is pain free
