• Sleep Apnea

    Hey B!

I have recently noticed that my 9 year old daughter has sleep apnea – she holds her breath when she sleeps and snores loudly. I have made an appointment with the ENT and if she has enlarged tonsils I know the typical protocol would be to remove them but I just wanted your view on this and how I can support her. She is active and generally sleeps well (10 hours) and I do my best to give her a nutrient dense diet although her appetite has increased since the summer period so its been difficult managing it.

Your advise would be super helpful please!

    Thanks 🙂

Hi  – I’m not sure who you’re going to see, but I would recommend consulting with Dr. Annelyse Ballin who is also an ENT but approaches her patients more holistically.

I would also encourage you to watch the video on root causes of poor sleep in the Sleep Optimization program HERE. You can scroll to the 16:55min mark to watch the part on sleep apnea and possible root causes.

It might also be worth seeing a biological dentist to check her jaw/palette and tongue placement to make sure it’s positioned correctly when she’s lying down, but I believe Dr. Annelyse already works with Dr. Roze BioHealth clinic in case a referral is needed.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Bernadette,

I was going to see Dr Tarabishi but I have heard good things from Dr Ballin who isnt too far from me so I might book an appointment with her. I watched the video (thanks for sharing) and it makes a lot of sense and affirm my presumptions too.
Funny you mention them – I had already taken her and her brother to Dr Roze – She had no issues whereas her brother is now going through myofunction therapy. But I think my daughters root causes are different to his.

    Thank you for the recommendations.
