  • Medicine kit students should take with them to university

    Hello B and D,

My son is going to the US to university in January and I want him to take a medicine kit with him. Can you please send me a list of the essentials? In addition, he will be taking the Berkey water bottle. Is there anything else that you would advise? Any good organic stores in the Boston area?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hey ,

That’s exciting for both of you! Your son is lucky with such a caring mother! Is there anything in particular you are worried about?

There is a handout called B’s Medicine Cabinet Must Haves in which you can find some general inspiration if you like.

If he is sick regularly, you can also perhaps teach him the importance of nutrients that are needed to build white blood cells like vitamin D, A, zinc and vitamin B12.

Let us know if you are searching for something more specific!

Hi  – having just gone through this with my eldest son this summer, I feel well prepared to answer this question for you.

I’ll share the “medicine cabinet” kit I prepared for him:
    • Arabinogalactans (Biotics Research IAG powder)
    • Vitamin D (Seeking Health Vitamin D3+K2 drops)
    • Vitamin A (Biotics Research Bio-Ae Mulsion)
    • Zinc/copper blend (Jarrow Zinc Balance)
    • Binder (Biocidin Botanicals GI Detox)
    • Antimicrobials:• Silver (Argentyn23 + filled a vertical spray bottle for nose/ears)
    • Broad spectrum (Biocidin Botanicals Biocidin)
    • Oregano tablets (Biotics ADP)
    • Arnica 200c
    • Active Skin Repair Gel & Spray
    • Propolis spray
    • Mag phos cell salt (bought from Life Pharmacy in Dubai)
    • Homeopathic mix; one for headaches and another for stress/anxiety (bought these in Canada)

In terms of other “health” items I made sure he packed and took with him (but not sure if he’s using them ):
    • Blue light blocking glasses
    • Defender shield for laptop
    • His stainless steel water bottle

Once we got to his apartment, I purchased him an Instant Pot, an Instant Pot recipe book (this one), and NutriBullet blender. I also purchased a shower filter and installed it in his shower.

He’s living in his own apartment with a kitchen, so I also helped setup his kitchen… but that could be a separate post on its own.

In terms of organic shops, I’m not familiar with Boston, but a quick google search of “Boston Organic Grocery” gave me this top 10 list: https://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=Organic+Food+Stores&find_loc=Boston%2C+MA

Good luck… it’s a roller coaster of emotions all wrapped into one! Nervousness, excitement, worry, sadness… just remember, it’s a blessing to be able to witness their launch from the comfort of their nest!
