just wanted to chime in to say sorry to hear that but to also ask about his age as it does become more common in elderly men for root cause reasons Daniel mentioned above, in addition to being overweight or obese.

I’ve often seen blood sugar dysregulation being the main driving factor since insulin increases the conversion of testosterone to DHT so definitely encourage him to test HbA1C, fasting glucose and fasting insulin or c-peptide.

And please encourage him to join B Better so he can access the content and we can provide him with continued support.

what will you be ordering? If probiotics, you’ll need to make sure they don’t require refrigeration. Most other supplements are ok to be shipped internationally.

If you need access to supplements faster, you can try iHerb. However they don’t have the high quality selection like Fullscript does.

In terms of mail forwarding companies, Boxit4Me has a 3-5 business day delivery option, but it’s obviously pricier.

after my mom’s surgery, she was also experiencing vomiting from the anesthesia. I gave her a homeopathic remedy and it worked incredibly well and quickly too! Something to consider if conventional meds aren’t helping…

I’m going to share some possible remedies for vomiting taken from the book “Schuessler Tissue Salts” which was recommended by our guest expert Dr. Manjari.
    • Vomiting after meals, also with acidic fluid: ferr. phos 12x
    • Vomiting of bile (yellow, bitter and thick fluid): nat. sulph 6x
    • Vomiting of thick, transparent mucus: nat. murr 6x
    • Vomiting of white mucus: kali. mur 6x
    • Vomiting of acidic fluid: nat. phos 6x

These Schuessler tissue salts are all available at Life pharmacies in Dubai or on Amazon outside of the UAE.

Hi – can you share a little bit more about your brother’s overall health & lifestyle habits, diet, medications/supplements taken, and any additional symptoms.

Has he ever worked with a chiropractor or osteopath for treatment of the cervical spine?

From personal experience with chronic cervical spine issues since the age of 15, gaining stability in the ligaments around the cervical spine helped eliminate my chronic neck spasms in 3 months using prolotherapy (a sugar solution injection that promotes natural healing to the area which strengthened the ligaments and provided stability to the cervical spine)!

Figuring out why your brother is having spasms is important. Has that been investigated by his doctors?

that’s a hard no unfortunately. I personally love and use Odacite and Josh Rosebrook products.

In last year’s holiday guide I also suggested 2 UK brands: The Organic Pharmacy and Aurelia London. Pricier but you get what you pay for.

In addition to Daniel’s great suggestions, I would also encourage you to browse through EWG’s skin deep database for brands of “cleaner” moisturisers (click here). Look for those with a rating of 1 and see if they’re available in the UK.

Think Dirty is another website you can browse for cleaner brands.

Note, these sites don’t offer perfect options, but it’s a good starting point for your search. You can also enter Nivea to compare its toxicity score.

As a simple solution, as Daniel had suggested, aloe vera gel (you can freeze them and apply nightly because they stink), or plain cocoa butter can be used as a moisturiser (plus you’ll smell like chocolate! )

    Hope this help.

  • did you search through AFMC? Only 10 come up. Although I do not know her personally, I have been on continuing education calls for practitioners with Nadia Hajjar Kawash and to be honest, AFMC is a pretty rigorous program (where I studied) so I know about the quality of education these practitioners receive and feel confident recommending them to you.

  • I don’t know of any personally, but have you tried searching for practitioners through databases like IFM.org and AFMC? (I’ve linked the directory search to practitioners in London, UK)

Hope this helps you find someone!

    – I will definitely create a handout for newborn/infant support but in the meantime, here are a few items I would consider must-haves for your medicine cabinet and beyond. Also note, the best defense for your baby is breastfeeding so let us know if you need help with that.

-Nasal aspirators (“snot suckers”): babies will get sick; it’s just the normal part of how they build and strengthen their immune system. And since they can’t blow their nose, having an aspirator to help clear out their excess nasal mucus is a must. There are many different types and options (bulb syringe, NoseFrida snotsucker tube, and electric options).

-Humidifier: this can also help with easier breathing when sick but choosing the right machine is key as they can get moldy if not well maintained. I like this option since it comes with both a humidity sensor and mold disinfectant abilities, is quiet, easy to clean and covers 500 sq feet. All things to consider when purchasing a humidifier.

-Xylitol spray: in the event of viral illness, xylitol has been shown to kill COVID-19 and reduce viral load in the nasal passages. Kid’s Xlear is one option. Babies 0-3 months would take 1 drop in each nostril 1-3 times per day, and 2-4 drops in each nostril 1-3 times per day for babies 3-12 months.

-Oscillococcinum homeopathic remedy for flu: in the event of a respiratory illness, oscillococcinum has shown to decrease the duration and intensity of symptoms. For any age or weight, half the vial is taken daily for 3 days.

-Baby probiotic: in the event of a C-section, a probiotic can help populate the baby’s gut. Either sprinkle some onto your  nipple while breastfeeding or in the formula to help populate baby’s gut. I like Smidge for infants.

-Nat Phos 6x Cell Salt for gas, reflux/colic: this can be given at any age; 1-3 pellets every 15 minutes or as needed directly in baby’s mouth or dissolved in breastmilk.

A chiropractor or cranial sacral therapy worker can also really help. It can take 4 to 6 sessions to see results but it’s worth it. Also make sure to check for lip and tongue ties – especially if they’re always hungry too despite feeding them!

-For gas: make sure you burp after every feed. I would also search for a good chiropractor with experience dealing with infants. It can do wonders!

Active Skin Repair for rashes: I love this product. I have the gel and spray bottles and use them for a variety of things since they stimulate the body’s natural healing and is naturally antimicrobial. Can work great on rashes too! We have a discount code: BERN10 for 10% off.

Now regarding infant vitamin D supplementation, Daniel shared the conventional recommendations. However, I have mixed feelings about giving it regularly to infants who aren’t actively fighting an illness. Please read through this post thread here. Just to be clear, if there’s an illness, I absolutely agree with vitamin D supplementation in infants. What I’m concerned with is the daily vitamin D supplementation recommendation.

As I mentioned, breastfeeding will be the best defense for your baby, so nourishing yourself will help protect your little one. Here’s a basic wellness guide for breastfeeding mothers:
    1. Prenatal Vitamins (using only methylated forms of folate)
    2. Omega 3 (EPA + DHA): 500-1000mg daily
    3. Probiotic: at least 25 CFU daily
    4. Vitamin D3: at least 6400IU daily total

Thorne has a good D3/K2 liquid option.

Hope these tips help you prepare, and we can’t wait to hear the great news and see some cute baby pics!

All the best and wishing you a safe and complication-free birth!

    – how exciting! I see that Daniel has already replied. I will get back to you by tomorrow with additional points and the controversy regarding vitamin D supplementation in infants.

How are you feeling by the way?

that’s a relief and great news to hear! Happy for your family. He’s lucky to have you by his side caring for his post-operative needs.

This Symptom Dictionary handout provides root cause reasons and initial dietary guidelines for high cholesterol. It’s important to address why his cholesterol is elevated and usually blood sugar dysregulation, low thyroid function, and high stress are the usual culprits. Addressing those would bring down cholesterol to optimal levels without the need for statins which are known to deplete CoQ10 and lead to mitochondrial dysfunction.

Also read the possible root cause reasons for acid reflux in this Symptom Dictionary handout. Usually not having enough stomach acid is what causes reflux (even though it sounds backwards) so looking to address why his body isn’t producing sufficient acid would help him eliminate the need for antacids. Read the handout and let me know if you have any questions about how to figure out the root cause reasons. I would prioritize this symptom since we need good strong stomach acid to absorb key vitamins and minerals, to trigger the release of enzymes, to act like a “cleansing tank” against pathogens, and to breakdown and absorb our proteins which are needed for so many enzymatic functions, muscle building, neurotransmitters for mood, sleep, hormones, etc.

If you’d like to learn more about the importance of stomach acid, I’d highly encourage you read the book called “Why Stomach Acid is Good for You“.

our bodies are always detoxing. However it doesn’t hurt to assist the elimination pathways when there’s a need.

Checkout Liquid of Life and see if they can help. I’ve been using their undersink water filter for well over a decade and take them with me to new homes even when we moved.

They install them right at the tap so it help bypass old corroded pipes. You can also get your water tested by taking a sample to the Dubai Central Lab to make sure it’s clean after installation.

The owner Neil and his wife Rukhsana are honest and know their stuff so they’ll be able to guide you and let you know of the best solutions for your needs as well. Let them know about the pipes and see what they suggest.
