hope you had a good summer too!

Yes peptides seem to be making a lot of noise lately, especially in the biohacking circles because peptides, like you rightly said are amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins. So their functions are many!

And they’re able to make lab-made peptides to perform specific benefits and they range wildly. You’ll find them in anti-aging products, skincare and muscle growth peptides, hair growth and even in supplements like collagen, protein shakes, etc.

If you’re curious to learn more, checkout Jay Campbell. He’s considered the OG peptide user and one of the early pioneers. He has a book and course (click here).

    Hope that helps!

I’m not sure of a specific brand, but I would make sure it’s certified organic. I did a quick search and found these ones on iHerb by Pure Indian Foods which are USDA certified organic.

And regarding your email about finding a homeopathic doctor in the US, unfortunately, I don’t know any that I can recommend locally to you. However, Dr. Manjari who was our guest last month does virtual consultations if you can’t find anyone close to you.

    Hope that helps.

Hi – Dutch has several tests. Which one are you interested in pursuing specifically?

Since you live in the US, we’ve setup easy access to functional tests for B Better members.

Click here to access tests through Rupa Health and here for True Health Labs so you can compare prices as well.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

mycotoxins can absolutely affect the gut lining, which I discuss in this video in the Mold & Mycotoxin illness course (4:50min mark).

Did your mold inspector provide a report of their findings? What did they suggest be done? This absolutely has to be prioritized for your healing.

If you cannot get out of mold right away, I would recommend watching Dr. Jill Crista’s course “9 Things to Know While Still in Mold” (discount code BBETTER for 10% off) to help mitigate the negative impacts of mold.

we can help with that. Just email support@bernadetteabraham.com and they’ll give you access to those tests. But please specify which tests you’d like to get done exactly:

GI Map only? GI Map plus Zonulin? H Pylori only?

And which DUTCH test? DUTCH Plus? DUTCH Adrenal? DUTCH Complete?

Also include your full name, email address, date of birth, phone number, mailing/billing address (if different).

I’m SOO sorry to hear that. I know how scary that is. My father had to have a sudden open heart surgery several years ago.

May I know his age and a bit about his diet and lifestyle habits? Does he have any other comorbidities? Does he take any medications?

I find the most difficult part in these types of situations is trying to get our family members, especially the elderly, to change their dietary and lifestyle habits. But if they are willing to make changes, that’s a different story and we can absolutely help.

In terms of preparing him for surgery, how much time does he have? Under Protocols, we have a “Preparing for Surgery – Pre & Post Op Recommendations” that you can take a look at.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and hoping for a successful surgery and recovery. Please do keep us posted.

1/4 to 1/2 tsp in 250 ml is the general recommendation between meals twice per day along with the anti-microbials.

And just to clarify, unless there is gastritis, a little lemon juice in salad dressings won’t cause any issues. Issues can arise when increasing acidity with HCL betaine supplementation while having an overgrowth. Hope that helps.

I’d also like to chime in. I know it can be confusing, but the issue is all about timing of when to create a more acidic environment when addressing an H Pylori overgrowth.

Low stomach acid (which has various root cause reasons) creates the opportunity for H Pylori to overgrow. So I can understand why one would think that increasing stomach acid is the solution, however research shows that creating a more acidic environment with an overgrowth will just cause the H Pylori to burrow even further into its famous urease-promoting bubble.

So the strategy is all about timing. First address the H Pylori overgrowth with supportive herbs for 30-90 days depending on how entrenched the case is. Doctors use antacids along with antibiotics. The same can be done with baking soda between meals. It’s a sort of “bait and kill” strategy. The alkaline environment created by the antacids or baking soda helps pull them out from their hiding spot, and then the antibiotics or herbs kill them.

Only after the overgrowth is eradicated do we then support with HCL during meals to prevent re-infection/overgrowth.

    Hope that makes sense.

what are you looking to achieve from either of these courses? That might help you figure out which one to go for. If credentials are important for work purposes, then the Masters will provide you with better opportunities if you’re interested in working in a clinical setting.

Cost, course content, duration, travel, accreditation, and as you mentioned, time commitment are other factors to consider.

I would write out all of these factors in an excel sheet and weigh the pros and cons of each program. That might help you decide.

Hi – have you seen the recorded session with Dr. Manjari from our guest expert interview last month? It’s located in the Resources under “All Call Recordings” here.

I asked her 2 questions that can give you a starting point for your search which are timestamped:
    • 00:22:42 – For those who are looking for a homeopath, is there an organization for finding a qualified homeopath? (She mentions different organizations)
    • 00:32:48 – Do you have any particular courses or books to learn more? (This is about cell salts and she shared a book)

Otherwise, feel free to reach her directly. All details are included in the notes below her session.

you’re correct and I have to agree that there is a lot of unnecessary functional testing happening in the naturopathic and FM world, and yes it is a form of passive income for practitioners.

From my discussions with recent graduates of naturopathic schools, it seems that they are now teaching a more structured allopathic approach, but using functional tests and nutraceuticals instead of pharmaceuticals. So yes, in that sense, I have to agree with you that it’s become a bit too protocoled.

Daniel and I were taught to use tests only when necessary to help decide on a course of action. If it’s to confirm an assumption based on a client’s symptoms and health history, then it’s a waste of that client or patient’s money unless they insist and have the budget for it.

You are correct that so much can be corrected when the basic foundations are addressed. This was my strategy for the content creation in B Better and the reason why I focused on creating courses that address these foundations: digestion/gut health, blood sugar balance, minerals, hydration, fatty acids, adrenal/thyroid, environmental.

And in the course pipeline is a course for interpreting basic labs (CBC & CMP) because so much can be gleaned from these simple blood tests; many of which are covered by insurance.

When these foundations are addressed, I can bet that 95% of the symptoms our members experience, will improve. And I know this to be true because that’s what I focus on with my private clients as well and get great results.

So yes, I agree with you that a lot can be done WITHOUT functional testing. However, there are benefits as it can remove a lot of trial and error by dictating the course of action, as well as helping with client compliance. Some people are driven by their numbers and will only change their habits if they see the need in ‘black and white’ so to speak.

For example, removing gluten and dairy after doing a KBMO food sensitivity test, or increasing fatty acids after doing an OmegaQuant test and seeing a very low Omega-3 to Omega-6 balance which is pro-inflammatory. These types of unveilings can be powerful motivators for clients and patients to change their habits.

Hope this helps give additional perspective to the issue. And thank you for bringing it up.

    Hi
    – I’m not aware of any functional paediatricians however I do know an integrative MD who works a lot with children on the spectrum. Integrative means she uses both conventional and functional medicine in her practice. Her name is Dr Lilya Chub and works at Hope Health & Healing.

Hi – you can find some information about detoxification and lung health support in our latest Lung Health & Air Pollution protocol in the resource library here (scroll all the way down). And of course, avoidance is key. So if it’s possible to leave until things settle, better to do so. If not, keeping windows closed and getting an ultra hepa air purifier will help remove particulate matter. Stay safe!

sauna use is generally NOT recommended during pregnancy, as the temperature increase can harm the fetus.

However, there is no clear consensus on sauna use while nursing and I’m assuming it’s because it depends on various factors like the type of sauna (traditional vs infrared), the temperature and duration. The risks of course to be aware of are dehydration and the timing of breastfeeding since sweating helps excrete toxins which can end up in breast milk. So the general guideline is to breastfeed before sauna use or at least 2 hours after sauna use.

Always check with your doctor for your unique case, and always err on the side of caution when it comes to you or your baby’s health.
